Summer of Sass was founded on a simple but powerful idea: Provincetown should remain accessible to the next generation of LGBTQ+ people.
For years, our program has made that promise real by providing housing, community, and opportunity to young adults during the summer. Now, we are expanding that mission in a new and exciting way.
Our Provincetown home will also serve as an affordable retreat space for small LGBTQ+ organizations from across the country. By scheduling your retreat in the Sass House, you’ll get a chance to step away from daily pressures, connect with your organization, dream big, and return to your communities re-energized.
Our House & Our Mission
Off Season is a natural extension of the Summer of Sass mission: making sure Provincetown continues to be a place where queer people from all walks of life can gather, learn, and create the future—together. Our historic Victorian property that dates back to 1880 isn’t just a beautiful place to collaborate—we also offer a suite of amenities that encourage connection and rejuvenation.
A Vital & Accessible Space for Queer Leaders
Rising costs have made it nearly impossible for grassroots groups—often led by volunteers or underfunded leaders—to gather in Provincetown. By lowering that barrier, we’re making sure that Ptown continues to be more than a vacation spot: it becomes a vital space where queer leaders can meet, collaborate, and recharge.
Off Season is the brain child of Summer of Sass founder, comedian, and activist, Kristen Becker. As a leader of an LGBTQ+ organization herself, Kristen understands that every group has unique needs and budgets to consider. From rental lengths of one night to a full week, full and partial-house rentals, and even the option to sneak a few more beds in for big groups, Kristen will work with you to create a tailored experience that is just right.
The Sass House is also located only 0.7 miles from the town center, where you can enjoy restaurants, art galleries, and shops year round. Looking for something even closer? Groceries, refreshments, and delicious meals are located right next door at the East End Market. If you want to level up your retreat experience, just a mile down the road is The Provincetown Commons, a meeting, coworking, and art studio space with options for one day or monthly memberships.
